Double Take: A Review

Double Take Bottle

I’m sitting at home tonight catching up on some shows I haven’t watched in forever, and my fridge is sadly lacking in stock.  I did find a couple of beers from the weekend.  A new beer for me, Double Take Amber Ale.

I have to admit I only purchased this beer because I liked the look of the bottle.  I heard somewhere that if you like the labeling on a bottle, you’ll probably like the drink inside.

Now I have to say this theory hasn’t held true for some other beers in the past, but for Double Take, that saying is nothing but correct.  This is a beer I will purchase again.

There’s a nice hop flavor that isn’t overwhelming.  The citrus undertones are nice as well with an obvious orange flavor that is quite pleasant.

The beer’s nose has a nice peppery scent, with more hops and even a slight hint of vanilla.  There’s even just the barest whiff of what I’m pretty sure is cardamom.

Overall, I have to say that Double Take is a nice surprise for something I picked up on a whim at the grocery store.  If you can find it where you are, I’d strongly recommend you pick up a few, and if not, call your local distributor and ask them to start carrying it.  (Yes, you are allowed to do that, the worst they can say is, no.)

I’ll also be looking forward to trying their India Pale Ale, I just can’t remember seeing that at Safeway.
